Some books sold for my $20 challenge!

February 25th, 2006 at 07:04 pm

I listed some books for sale and a couple have already sold. To help me remember, they are;

Hoot - $3.45 to add to my funds

The Wall Jumper - $3.78 to add

I take the amount they sold for and subtract commision and shipping costs. The padded envelopes cost me nothing; I got some freebies in the mail and saved the envies. I've been getting tons of bubble wrap and foam peanuts from work for E-Bay, and will also keep an eye out for more of the padded mailing envelopes. I work today and the post office is right near, so the cost for gas won't be any extra.

So far in my $20 challenge account I have $17.02 and am still in the red. I'm going to list some things on E-Bay tomorrow and am hoping a couple of the books I bought will do well. I figure that this month will be about establishing myself and I won't be in the green until March.

Every little bit helps

I'm happy to say that I brought a lunch to work today and spent no money on lunch or snacks. There's a new Starbucks opening and they are training all of the workers, so we all got free drinks - whatever we wanted. I'm glad it was free because those prices sure are expensive. I got some kind of strawberry smoothie, and it was very good. I don't drink coffee, but even if I did I wouldn't spend that much money on a drink.

Everyone has their own weaknesses, though. I used to buy books fairly often, but buying all the time at the library, book sales, and the Salvation Army the way I do and selling online provides me with plenty to read.

Salvation Army

On the way home from work I went to the Salvation Army to poke around. I bought 19 books to sell online. They cost me $6.71 with tax. The total amount I have now for the $20 challenge is $9.79 but hopefully some books will start to sell in the days to come. I'm looking forward to watching my total go up instead of down!

I got a paycheck today but it was short by a week (I get paid every other week.) I hope I don't have to wait another two weeks to get the money that's due to me.

I'm eating M&M's and the puppy is bugging me. I guess it's time to put them away for now.

And away I go!

I went to the library yesterday and found some books to sell. I bought four out of my $20 budget, for a total cost of $3.50 - I'm now in the red! One of the books will be listed on E-Bay this Sunday. I'm also going to hit the Salvation Army to find things to sell.

Total so far is $16.50 and I need to catch up. I'm starting late compared to others.

I went to Target yesterday and found some great deals on Valentine items for next year. Nick is sick and I've been home with him.

$20 Challenge

I've been away from this forum for a long time! When I finally did log on tonight, the concept of the $20 challenge interested me right from the start. I'm not sure what the rules are, or if there are any rules for that matter. So, I'll do what works for me and go from there.

So far I have - you guessed it - $20 to start with. My goal will be to keep the original $20 intact, and use all profits to pay towards a specific bill at the end of each month. Make sense? We'll figure it out together in the year to come...

OK - (rolls up sleeves) off we go!
